Xavierian Alumni of Godavari, established in the year 2006 by the SLC graduating batch of that year, is an alumni body of St. Xavier’s School Godavari. The alumni though started was not active until year 2012, when under the supervision of then principal Fr. Jiju V. Kevillil S.J was revived by conducting various activities. Since then, the members of XAG have carried out various programs targeting the development of students of various local schools as well as betterment of the school sharpening their own qualities. XAG is the alumni of the school and every graduating student from the school becomes the member of the group. At present XAG has more than 700 members .
Besides volunteering in the activities of the school, XAG organizes its own events to build good fellowship among the alumni and to bring a change in society for its betterment. The first event organized by XAG was to aware the alumni about the existence of XAG. ‘A day out in Godavari’ event was organized for all the graduates with a day-long sports program. Around 200 alumni showed up on this day and enjoyed the day to the fullest. As every Xavierian is fond of at least one or more sports, the joys of childhood days were vivid in their eyes. Then XAG decided to organize social events. XAG organized its first cycle rally on 18th of August, 2012; ‘Youth Pedaling for Development’ to mark the International Youth Day and has been continuing to organize it on an annual basis.
“Verses” is another annual event organized by XAG. It is an interschool slam poetry event. Students from various schools take part in a workshop conducted by skilled slam poets and after a week of preparation come prepared with their own poems to perform on the stage. Based on the depth of their poems and the quality of their performances, students are judged by the renowned individuals of the town. XAG also organizes other events such as welcome camps for the fresh graduating batch, volunteering activities and so on.
The members of the alumni body dedicate themselves into the activities which in various ways will contribute towards the development of the locality and the nation as a whole. Organizing various activities through XAG, the members of this alumni body consider this as a way of giving something back to the school. XAG, at present has become a reason to come back to the school and cherish the moments spent here. XAG has come through much learning, difficulties and challenges but most importantly it has been able to gather the unity among the alumni who believe in themselves and always live by the school motto:
LIVE FOR GOD LEAD FOR NEPAL!
