When we come to understand the difficulties people face all over the world, we often ask ourselves, "What can I do to help?" Sometimes, it seems like the world's problems are too big for one person's assistance to really make a difference. One arena where this is certainly NOT the case is education.

History has taught us that helping one person to get an education can make an enormous difference. One of the Jesuit Charisms is cura personalis, the care of the person. At St. Xavier's we believe that every individual child needs personal care and encouragement, and that every child has a right to an education and the potential to be a force for good in the world. Instructing that child with attention to his or her individual talents and traits is one way to bring light to Nepal and work towards creating a more just world.
